This project was designed and tendered by erect architecture, who are at the forefront of playground design. As we have worked with erect on many other successful projects before, we have proven that we can understand their concepts and help bring them to life. With the expertise we have gained in the constructor of playgrounds over the years, we really relish the opportunity to work alongside inspiring designers.
This project was designed through a client led process for Old Ford Primary School in Bow, London. It was designed for the year 3-4 children and was built in 3 weeks over the Easter Holidays. A large proportion of this climbing frame were built in our workshop prior to installation in order to limit disruption to the school. The designed was produced around the limited space we had to work in and around the European Safety standards EN 1176. This approach is great when, like in this inner-city playground, the space in limited and the very most be made from it. For instances like this, 'off-the-shelf' playground equipment isn't the best approach.
The design consists of a large climbing structure with multiple platforms, a ramp, tunnels/ den, balance beams and stepping logs, climbing nets, monkey bars, slide, climbing ropes, a fireman’s pole and lookout point. The safety surface is coloured wetpour with mounds added to increase the play utility.
The climbing frames main componants were green oak structural frame, larch substructure, decking and balustrades and stainless steel fixings.
The final product looks amazing and the students, parents and teachers love it. Contact us here
